These mobile mosques are designed by a Japanese firm Yasu which revolves around the concept of Japanese hospitality ‘omotenashi’.
Japan is aiming to attract Muslim tourists from neighboring countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Arab countries during the 2020 Olympics. Previously Japanese municipalities also initiated plans to promote Muslim friendly tourism in Honshu Island.
Japan is also home to a Muslim population of around 100,000-200,000.
