Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) to observe ‘Youm-e-Tashakur’ over the historic verdict of Supreme Court (SC) in connection with irregularities found in electoral rolls of Karachi. The public meeting in this regard will be held at Idara Noor-e-Haq on December 8. This announcement was made by Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Muhammad Husssain Mahenti during a meeting at Idara Noor-e-Haq yesterday.
Addressing on the occasion, Mahenti termed the SC verdict a historic decision and said that the SC through that verdict has interpreted the emotions and feeling of the people of Karachi. He added the said decision will not only helps in holding fair and free elections but also will be a milestone to restore peace in the city.
Mahenti further said all religious and political parties except MQM have reservations over the current electoral rolls of Karachi, which is an open proof of irregularities in the electoral rolls.
Secretary JI Karachi Naseem Siddiqui, Naib Amir Berjis Ahmed, Raja Arif Sultan, Dr Abdul Wasay Shakir, Nasrullah Shajih, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Syed Muhammad Iqbal, deputy secretaries including Muslim Pervez, Ali Muhammad, Secretary Information Zahid Askari and Director Public Relations Sarfaraz Ahmed and others were also present on the occasion.
