Bormida is a village in Italy whose mayor announced that anyone who relocates in the village will be gifted around $2,100 as a gift from the mayor. This will become on of the few villages where people will be paid for living.
This announcement was made at the Facebook page of the mayor Daniele Galliano who said that I have made a suggested which is being considered and if successfully accepted then from next year anyone who relocates in the village by either purchasing a house, renting a house or apartment will be paid $2,100 as gift.
This step is being taken because the village is on the edge of becoming a ghost town. Currently only 394 people live there, once it was a village with full of life and economic activities.
Oddone Giuseppe manages four restaurants in the town, he said that “There is nothing much to do here. But life is so simple and natural, we have forests, goats, the church, and plenty of good food. Life would definitely be free of stress.”
