Naming a child is one of the most important matters in not only parents life but it is also important thing for a child because this will be the name by which he will be called for his whole life.
There are certain Islamic guidelines for naming a child such as we cannot use the names and attribute of Allah such as Rab, Raaziq & Qaahir. Islam also prohibits naming child as such which means slavery to anyone else other than Allah. Names which are from Kuffar are also prohibited such as Peter, John & George.
Islam asks parents to use names which have beautiful meanings so that a child should not be embarrassed because of his name after becoming mature. Names which have bad meanings should not be used such as Himaar (Donkey) or Qalb (Dog).

Names of People who violated Allah’s hukm and message are also prohibited such as Pharaoh, Hamaan & Abu Lahb.
