The role of woman in today’s materialistic and capitalistic society have become a debatable topic where some are using her as a object by commercializing her while on the other hands other are trying to forcing her to limit herself to the house.
Western media portrays working women as successful and free women while Muslim women who prefer to concentrate on grooming and education their children are treated as backwards and slaves.
While the reality is Islam distributes the duties and obligations of man and woman on their ability. Islam has burdened man with the financial responsibility and woman is made responsible for educating the next generation.
It doesn’t mean women cannot work or take part in trade or politics. It is well recorded in See rah that Prophet (PBUH) first wife was successful trader in Makkah. Hazard Umar (Ra) appointed a female judge for the market of Madina.
Similarly the first university of the world was also established by a Muslim woman Fatima. Islam gave women the right of ownership, the right of asking for divorce, the right of getting education centuries before western world.
