Jeddah: Today, the media in Pakistan is facing lack of press freedom and severe financial difficulties. It has never existed in 70 years, while it is not the beauty of democracy to ban reading and writing on issues and national issues in a democratic country.
This was stated by the President of Pakistan Journalists Forum, Shahid Naeem, while addressing a meeting of Pakistan Journalists Forum in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
On the occasion, PJF Chairman and eminent columnist Amir Mohammad Khan said that in Pakistan, there should be complete freedom of the press and it is necessary to abide by the rules and regulations without harassment or censorship.
However, the strangulation of truth is not freedom of the press. Amir Mohammad Khan added that the current Prime Minister often mentions Europe and educated society, but in these societies, difficulties are not created for independent journalism.
The meeting was welcomed by PJF honorary member, former sports editor of Arab News Arshad Naqvi. Musarat Khalil, Mohammad Jamil Rathore, Muhammad Adeel, Khalid Cheema, Mohammad Mustafa Khan, Amanatullah, and others attended the meeting.
