Peshawar: In KP Assembly, parliamentary leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) Sardar Hussain Babak claimed that some women members carries pistol in her purse. During addressing at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak said he had received a letter from the officials, according to which some women members of the Assembly bring arms in her wallet during the session.
He alleged that some women do not get their purses checked through security, demanding an action against offending women members. Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) member assembly Nighat Orakzai also endorsed the accusation and said that by denying to get their purses checked, wrong members are violating the sanctity of the house. She said that such women should be tested.
Sardar Hussain Babak said by bringing weapons in the house KP women assembly members make male member frightened and threatened. The additional IGP’s letter stated that Policewomen assigned for security at the assembly building avoided checking the women politicians’ purses and body due to high respect and dignity of these MPAs. In reply security officials informed the house that female members did not allow search on which they were issued letters.
The letter of assembly secretariat on the issue has been spoken to the lawmaking leader of the parties, including PTI, JUI-F, QWP, ANP, PPP and PML-N.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly is the unicameral legislative body of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. It was established under Article 106 of the Constitution of the Pakistan. The assembly has 124 elected members, 99 regular seats, 22 seats reserved for women and 3 seats for Non-Muslims.
