Hizb ut-Tahrir Pakistan has started an SMS campaign calling for the freedom of Naveed Butt, the official spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir Pakistan who has been missing since 11 May 2012. The campaign was initiated through a message from the media Office of Hizb ut-Tahreer and has been circulating on social websites.
The message from the media office calls upon the Muslims of the world to circulate the SMS to all the people they know to show support for Naveed Butt. The message calls on people to announce their support for Naveed Butt who is the leading advocate for Khilafah in Pakistan, calling his actions brave and principled and demanding his immediate release from captivity.
Naveed Butt is believed to have been abducted by security or intelligence forces of Pakistan for his outspoken views against the system of governance in Pakistan. His organization Hizb ut-Tahreer has also been banned in Pakistan,
Hizb ut-Tahreer is a multinational organization spread in several areas of Europe, Middle East and Central Asia. Their manifesto is to re establish the Muslim Caliphate in the world and impose Islamic laws. They have been banned in Pakistan due to suspicion that they were trying to start an uprising similar to the Arab spring in Pakistan.
