Karachi: Another world record adds to the list of world records by West Indies in the game of Cricket, as Tino Best, playing his first Test after a break of long 3 years, yesterday registered a new world record of highest score batting at number 11 position.
Best in the third Test Match against England being played at Birmingham ended up scoring 95, which beats previous record of 75 by India’s Zaheer Khan against Bangladesh in Dhaka way back in 2004.
But the score of out on 95 means, still there is no batsman who has scored a century batting at last position in the history of cricket.
Fast bowler and the unlikely hero from the Caribbean soil hit 14 fours in his innings of 95 which is the highest number of boundaries hit by a No.11 batsman in a Test innings. On the other hand, strike rate of 84.82 is the second-highest for a No.11 batsman for a fifty-plus score.
Meanwhile, Best, for last wicket, with wicket keeper batsman Dinesh Ramdin had partnership of 143 – which is 3rd best partnership in Test history for 11th wicket.
It is to mention here that four Pakistani cricketers (Wasim Bari, Mushtaq Ahmed, Amir Elahi and Mohammad Farooq) also makes to the list of top 20 tail Enders scoring highest runs at the 11th position.
