Healthcare Professionals Emphasize The Importance Of Following Sops As Covid Cases Continue To Rise

With over 451,494 cases and over 9000 deaths already, COVID19 has claimed continues to spread. Scientists are still unsure about how the virus behaves since they have little history at hand. Unfortunately, even though the numbers continue to grow, the public still refuses to follow preventive measures, resulting in huge pressure being laid on the Pakistani health sector.

Combating the virus on the front lines for almost a year now, our healthcare professionals are not only working around the clock but many have lost their lives while trying to save others. Highlighting the importance of following WHO’s guidelines, a public service message by South City Hospital’s COVID unit frontline worker, Dr. Shaista Ghazal went viral.

Destressed to see the country suffering due to the pandemic, Dr. Shaista shares the painful experience COVID19 patient can go through.

Urging people to follow the three main preventive measures at all times, the doctor states, “right now, the situation is such that we have very sick patients being admitted in our hospital and our hospital is filled to capacity. One of the most important problems the patients face is that they can’t meet with their family. Patients who are off the vent and are awake, they are going into severe depression because of that. There are very simple steps to help prevent the disease from spreading. Wash your hands, use sanitizers, use masks and practice social distancing. We request you all, to follow these three simple steps for yourselves, your loved ones and your community, so that the disease can be controlled.”

Following the message, renowned journalist, Sidra Iqbal also tweeted a statement, “Such an important message for people. #GoBackToBasics. Make sure you’re wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing hands with soap. Protect yourself and protect your loved ones.”
