Sindh Governor House in Karachi is being opened for families from Friday (7-September). As per the order of PM Imran Khan the Governor House will be opened only for families daily.
Visiting timing will be from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM, while on Sunday it will be opened in the evening from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM.
The entry is free of cost, which means you won’t have to buy any ticket for the entrance.
In the first phase of its opening, only specific parts of governor House will be allowed to visit (For Families Only). While, if a group wants to visit the Governor House, it has to take permission in a written form.
Due to this initiative, the people are reminded of their responsibility to look after the Governor House as it is our national asset.
Closed-Circuit television cameras are already working in Governor House for safety purposes. Citizens found damaging any part of Governor House will be taken as a criminal act. While, in emergency situations the Governor House will be evacuated right away.
In the Governor House, any person who is called for identification must identify himself/herself for safety purposes.
Governor House is located on its original location where it was first built in 1843 by Sir Charles Napier, at that time Sindh was ruled by the British Raj. In 1936, its building was demolished and a new construction was started by architect R.T. Russel which was completed in 1939.
After the independence, the new building which was designed by R.T. Russel became the residence of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He resided in that building until his death.
