Karachi: Former lawmakers of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have demanded of the Federal Interior Minister to take strict notice of the killing of an innocent taxi driver by Rangers official in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, and exemplary punishment should be awarded for those Rangers officials who are involved in such incident.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, former JI legislators including Muzaffar Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nasrullah Shajih, Hameedullah Advocate and Younus Barai have strongly condemned the firing incident by Rangers officials. They were of the view that the Rangers officials are targeting innocent persons of the city instead of eradicating criminal elements.
JI former lawmakers regretted that the Rangers have not yet taken any step to remove target killers, extortionists and gang war criminals from the city. However, they are targeting the innocent people continuously.
Citing the example of the killing of Sarfaraz Shah, JI ex-lawmakers said that after said incident, the Rangers were continuously targeting the innocent citizens without any reason, while the criminal elements are roaming freely. They urged the Rangers to utilize their bravery to remove the criminal elements, not on the unarmed innocent civilians.
