VERSAILLES: A French court last Wed. sentenced a young lady for trying a full-face Islamic veil in civic and tossed away her bid to have the country’s questionable burqa ban announced illegal.
Cassandra Belin, twenty, was also convicted for offending and frightening 3 cops at the time of her detention, which sparked 2 days of rioting in the city of Trappes, near Paris, in July, 2013.
[junkie-alert style=”white”] She was given a one-month suspended jail sentence for the clash with the police and a one hundred fifty Euro charge for wearing the veil.[/junkie-alert]
Her barristers, who disagreed the burqa ban impinges on non-secular liberty and unreasonably object Muslims, had requested for a disaster scheming on the constitutionality of the ban before sentencing. But that request was confounded on the grounds the Constitutional Council had formerly defended the 2011 law.[junkie-alert style=”white”] Many Muslim speakers claim: it is very ironic that these Western countries do claim to guard freedoms, but in-fact they do guard those who humiliate Islam and their law violates personal freedoms when it comes to practicing Islam.[/junkie-alert]
But critics say if security is a consideration, then bike helmets also should be barred. In principle the ban covers all face coverings, but in practice the sole arrests have been of girls wearing Muslim veils.
