Former Minister Sher Afgan Niazi Passes Away

Sher Afgan Niazi diesIslamabad: Former Federal Minister Dr. Sher Afgan Khan Niazi has died today after long liver cancer disease. He was suffering from dreadful cancer disease from the past several years. He remained in unconscious condition from the past four days and admitted in the hospital. Veteran politician breathed his last breath today and died in his hometown.

Sher Afgan belonged to the famous pashtun tribe of Niazi and was the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Pakistan. He shifted his loyalty to several political parties, elected to National Assembly in 2002 as a member of Pakistan People Party(Parliamentarians) initially, but later shifted his allegiance to become PPPP (Patriot) and then joined Pakistan Muslim League (Q).

He was showered with rotten eggs and attacked in Lahore on April 8th, 2008 by the lawyers protesting against his support for dismissing of Supreme Court judges and Lal Masjid operation. He was also called the Hafiz of Constitution as he memorized almost all the sections and articles by heart.
