Lahore: Former Federal Minster and Central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Colonel (Rtd.) Ghulam Sarwar Cheema passes away here yesterday after suffering from poor health for several days. He died at the age of 73 and suffered from sugar disease. The funeral prayer of the deceased will be held today at 1:00 pm in his village Head Khanki, Dera Ghulam Sarwar Cheema.
Ghulam Sarwar Cheema began his political career in 1988 elections at the platform of Pakistan Peoples Party and was elected from NA 101 after which Benazir Bhutto designated him at the post of Defence Minister.
He then joined Pakistan Muslim League – N and was elected in 1997 elections on the party ticket. His last political affliation was with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. PTI Chief Imran Khan and CM Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has expressed severe grief over his death.
