Karachi: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has ordered to the all the cellular companies that only five SIMs will be issued on one CNIC instead of 50 SIMs otherwise they are likely to be blocked. Dozens of SIMs has been provided against one CNIC by PTA and there was no strict checking in this regard.
In May 2012 Chief Justice of Pakistan Chaudhry Iftikhar Muhammad made a decision that only 5 SIMs can be owned by one individual on his/her CNIC otherwise it will be blocked.
The authority said the cellular companies to submit all the extra SIMs in their stock by November 19. PTA ordered the companies that the customer can retain five SIMs of their choice otherwise they will be accommodated by companies at any cost.
Meanwhile PTA has also imposed ban on sale of SIMs at the shops from December 1 and now SIMs will only be available on mobile companies franchise.
