Salvador: Germany won their opening match against Portugal in the FIFA World Cup 2014 with the help of Muller’s hat-trick here at Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador. In the first match of the day, Germany posed a challenge of Portugal in their opening match of the World Cup. In color Germany, was kicking the ball and made Portugal off-color. Winner of the golden boot in the last edition of the World Cup in South Africa, Thomas Muller became nightmare for Portugal and scored the first Hat-trick in the on-going tournament.
Muller’s successive penalty stroke helped him to open his account as well as his national team’s account in the World Cup. Germany’s second goal came by header of hummels in 32nd minute of the match. Ramshackle Portugal got another blow when Pepe was sent off in the 37th minute due to fighting.
At the end of the first half, Muller broke all the blockade and deceived Portugal defense and scored 3rd for his team. It was the unfavorable end of the first half for 10-men Portugal.
Wounded Portuguese tried hard but failed to damage Germans, even for single time. Twenty-four-year old Muller achieved his milestone and scored his Hat-trick in 78th minute of the match. At the final whistle, Portuguese were no where in the match and resulted in 4-0 defeat against Germany.
Next Group Meetings: Germany will face Ghana and Portugal will face USA in their next matches.
