Sao Paulo: Brazil defeated Croatia by 3-1 in the opener of the 20th edition of the Football World Cup convincingly. In the first match of the World Cup held at Arena De Sao Paulo, Brazilian striker Neymar’s double strikes gave Brazil a great start in the World Cup campaign after unfavorable end in 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
In the 11th minute of the match Marcelo’s Own-Goal left Brazilian behind to less competitive Croatia. Home crowd stunned in the ground, and hunger of the goal for Brazil increased.
Home team kept the hopes alive for their fans and bounced back quite early after Croatia’s 1-0 lead. 22-year-old Neymar is star in the victory against Croatia. Neymar’s equalizer in the 29th minute gave the fans something to cheer.
Successful penalty stroke of Neymar in 71st minute gave the Brazil 2-1 lead. Oscar opens his account for the 2014 World Cup in the last moments of the match as he kicked the ball into the net in the 90th minute of the match.
Next Meetings: Brazil will play against Mexico on 17 June while Croatia will face Cameroon on 18 June.
