Berlin: A German court on Friday passed a verdict refusing the permission by female Muslim student to skip the swimming classes in the local school as she found it uncomfortable to swim along with bare-chested boys, AFP reported.
According to the report, the 12-year-old, Moroccon National who goes to school in the southern German city of Frankfurt, refused to take part in swimming lessons citing insecurity issues for which she had been marked down consequently.
She launched the report to be given the right to leave out the swimming classes as according to the Koran, it is forbidden for her to show herself to boys but also from seeing the topless boys.
However, after hearing the arguments, an administrative court in Kassel, western Germany, discarded her application.
But the court said in its verdict that she could wear the full-body swimsuit, “burkini” already used by several girls at her school, which would allow her to guarantee her religious freedom.
