The moon of Rabi-ul-Awal was sighted on the night of 19th November 2017 which marked the start of the month of Rabi-ul-Awal. So the federal holiday of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal will fall on 1st December (Friday).
Each year Federal government announces holiday in respect of 12th Rabi-ul-Awal which according to some narrations is the day when last Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) was born.

On this day gatherings and processions are held in different part of the country. Public gatherings are held in mosques and different centers along with lectures of the life of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh).
Government also celebrates this day with respect by having official events in capital city Islamabad. Government buildings and streets in different cities are also decorated as part of the celebrations.
Different societies and areas are also decorated by citizens by their own funds.
On this Eid Milad-un-Nabi schools, colleges, universities will remain close in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and other cities. Some people also demaned that holiday should also be announced on 11th Rabi-ul-Awal i.e. 30th November (Thursday).
