The number of vehicles has been increasing at a steady rate in recent years with more and more cars being imported from abroad to make up for the lack of local assembled cars in Pakistan. The congestion and heavy traffic in most cities has led to the increasing popularity of hatchbacks with more and more models on the road like Suzuki Swift and Toyota Vitz etc.
Now another new hatchback is due to be launched by FAW-Toyota known as the FAW V2. FAW is a Chinese state owned automotive manufacturer and is one of the biggest Chinese automobile producers. It also has the distinction of being China’s first automobile manufacturer in 1958. It is expanding rapidly into international markets and ahs formed partnerships with other notable manufacturers including Toyota.
The FAW-Toyota V2 will be assembled locally and will come with a 1300cc engine with Variable Cam Timing (VCTI) which is similar to Honda’s VTEC and Toyota VVTI. The engine has 16 valves, DOHC along with an electronically controlled multi-port fuel injection system for increased efficiency and performance.
The engine produces 67 horsepower and 120 torque. The FAW V2 also features useful safety features like ABS and airbags and a stylish and spacious interior. The price has not been officially announced yet but it is expected to be around 9 to 10 lacs which will make it a competitor for the popular Suzuki Swift.
