Famous Urdu writer Intizar Hussain Dies – Brief Profile

Lahore: Renowned Pakistani Urdu fiction writer Intizar Hussain passed away at a hospital in Lahore. He was famous for various types of writings which include fiction, story writing and poetry. He was admitted in hospital for treatment. He was 92.

Intizar Hussain was born on 7th Decmeber, 1923 in Dibai, Bulandshahr, India. He migrated with his family in 1947. He completed his intermediate in 1942, Bachelors of Arts (BA) in 1944 and then MA in 1946 from Meerut College.

Intizar Hussain was associated with Dawn newspaper and was regular columnist and wrote his last column for Dawn newspaper in September, 2015. He was among the 10 finalists for the Man Booker International Prize for fiction in 2013. French Ambassador to Pakistan Philippe Thiebaud conferred upon the ‘Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters’ to Intizar Hussain in September 2014.
