McCormick is the notorious ADE seller who has managed to make billions of dollars by selling a faulty bomb detection device in the most war affected zones of the world. The British authorities took notice of his activities after the media reported about worries concerning the incapability of the bomb detection devices among the US and British military personnel. Unfortunately even after McCormick has received a sentence of 10 years under fraudulent selling of the device, Pakistan still continues to use these cheap and worthless devices at major checkpoints in the country.
Jim McCormick has been able to sell thousands of fake bomb detectors such as ADE 650 and ADE 651 to law enforcement agencies across sensitive areas such as in Iraqi army, the Mexican army, Belgium Police and many other areas. although the product was sold all across the world from Mexico t Belgium, but Pakistan, India, Bangladesh.
The device was initially introduced as a golf ball detector, which was later on converted into a ‘Quadro Tracker’ by Malcolm Stig Roe and his partner to track narcotics. Roe had to leave the country when the law enforcement agencies discovered his device as a fake. He later on met McCormick, with whose help he was able to form a new company and sell the product to bigger markets through McCormick’s contacts. Conflicts arose between the two and McCormick went on to sell the device under a new company.
McCormick was able to sell the device for $14,000 each to the Labanese army, while he sold it for $25,000 each to the Nigers. He earned the most from the Iraqi conflict, where he was able to sell 5000 devices at a price as a high as $ 40,000 each. After coming to know his true face, many countries have stopped using this fake device, but unfortunately Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies are making no effort to deal with this issue.
