Islamabad: The Shiites living in Egypt have gone furious against a belly dancer as she appeared in an Egyptian movie raving to a song that praises Fatima R.A, the daughter of Prophet Muhammad and the wife of Hazrat Ali R.A. Egyptian Shiites have called for a ban on the movie to screen in the future.
The spokesman of Egyptian Shiites, Baha Anwar Mohammed, has condemned belly dancer Dina for her performance in the film “Abdo Mouta” to be odious and highly blasphemous to the People of the House (Ahl al-Bayt), the family of Prophet Muhammad, highly venerated in Shiite Islam.
Egypt’s al-Sabah newspaper, quotes Baha as saying that the country’s Shiites will file a complaint to the general prosecutor against the film demanding to ban it from screening as it insults prominent Islamic figures.
He also demands the Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic School and its Grand Mufti to condemn “such abuse” to the prophet’s family.
Meanwhile, Dina, the belly dancer, denied that her performance in the movie song “Virtuous Mother of Hasan and Husain” was meant to insult Islamic prominent figures.
