Consumption of Dry fruits and Eggs increases with the severances of winter each year, so do their prices. It has become so common that many have accepted it as a norm.
[junkie-alert style=”green”] The eggs which were available at Rs. 60/dozen are now being sold at more than Rs. 120 per dozen and it is expected that the rate will increase more with the expected increase in the cold. [/junkie-alert]
Last year the organic eggs in Karachi were sold at Rs. 220 during peak of winter but this year the cost has already reached Rs. 300/dozen and it is expected that it will increase further.
Prices of dry fruits are also increasing, pistachio which was sold at Rs. 1,100 is now being sold at Rs. 1,300, peanuts also saw an increase of Rs. 40 and are now being sold at Rs.200/kg.
The highest increase was in the rates of Chilghoza (Pine Nut), they were sold at Rs. 1,600 last year but now they are being sold at Rs. 2,600/kg.
People are complaining that by each passing day things are becoming expensive while the provincial and federal government is doing nothing.
