Dr Asim Hussain, former petroleum minister and close aide of former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Asif Zardari was charged with corruption of Rs462 billion by an accountability court with five others.
The five others who are facing charges in the corruption reference are as follows:
- Mohammad Ejaz Chaudhry – Former petroleum secretary
- Abdul Hameed – Group finance adviser and now administrator of Ziauddin Medical Centre, Dubai
- Safdar Husain – Former chief executive officer of the Karachi Dock Labour Board (KDLB)
- Syed Athar Hussain – Former director of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA)
- Masood Haider Jaffri – Also former director of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA)
Dr Asim said that corruption charges levels against him by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) are not true.
@AyazLatifPalijo says #PanamaPapers have helped PPP by diverting the attention from Dr Asim to PM's assetshttps://t.co/smxFCJgMok

The reference alleged that the former petroleum minister had deprived the state of Rs 462.5 billion from 2010 to 2013 — Rs 450 billion through the fertiliser scam, Rs 9.5 billion through land fraud and Rs 3 billion through money laundering.
Now NAB must give all the evidence in this case to court and try it’s best to proof that Dr Asim was included in Rs 462 billion corruption. This amount around $4.6 billion is very big and almost 10% of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project which cost of $46 billion.
But there or majority corruption not issue.
