“doctHERS” provides affordable access to quality health-care via nurse-assisted telemedicine. The company piloted its telemedicine model in 2014, in collaboration with Naya Jeevan (a health insurance company), in an urban slum (Sultanabad, Karachi) in 2014. doctHERS™ provided high-quality Maternal Neonatal and Child Healthcare (MNCH) via video consulting to over 100women from the Sultanabad community. doctHERS™ provides an unrestricted primary care membership plan which entitles users to up to 12 virtual visits per year for $36 (@$3/visit).
doctHERS™’ primary care health plan consists of a 12-visit/year package limit and is embedded in a shell of preventive health services which are delivered via webinar (where accessible to the audience), via town-hall style, social/health worker-facilitated community gatherings. In addition, Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) is available for remote, rural communities which do not have access to broadband connectivity.
Core Medical Services:
1. Customized Group Orientation Sessions: Orientation Sessions offered through doctHERs™ consist of a live CHW/trainer supplemented by an animated, educational training video that employs story-telling devices to educate beneficiaries about the doctHERs™ Health Plan.
2. Mobile Phone Access to a doctHERs™ medical doctor: doctHERs™ actively markets its medical teledoctor ‘Health Line’ for out-patient consultations for beneficiaries, for problems ranging from routine colds to more serious conditions that may require nurse-assisted physical examination. This service is currently supported by 4 full-time doctHERs™
3. Annual Medical Screenings/Health Risk Assessments: Every doctHERs™ health plan enrollee is entitled to a free medical screening/health risk assessment within the first 90 days of enrolment. The medical screening is conducted at the client site in the presence of a nurse/paramedic by doctHERs™ and serves as a preventive method to detect and manage diseases before they escalate and trigger a major hospitalization incident.
