Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Karachi has allotted a plot to Pakistan Hindu Council for construction for a Hindu temple, starting a debate whether this should be constructed or not.
A notification dated 23 February, 2018 is circulating on social media in which DHA authority requested Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, who is an MPA from ruling party MNA, to visit the office for allotment facilities.
The inauguration was scheduled on 26th February but was postponed due to unknown reasons. On Twitter the MNA apologized for the delay mentioning ‘unavoidable circumstances’.

Many people on social media questioned the decision, one user said why a temple is being constructed in an area where there is no significant Hindu population?

The construction of a magnificent Hindu Temple was in discussion from many years. In 2016 Ramesh Kumar met Administrator DHA Brig Zubair Ahmed to discuss the construction and allotment of plot.
The details of the allotment are not known but it is said that the plot is allotted in DHA Phase 8. Some claimed that the land was a park which is being allotted against the DHA rules & regulations but there is no evidence to prove this.
