Rawalpindi: Field General Court Marshal (FGCM) proceedings against the Army officers including Brigadier Ali Khan and four major rank officers over charges of having links with the banned Hizbut Tahrir, have been completed, press release by Inter Services Public Relations informed Friday.
All four suspected officers have been convicted of the charges for having links with an outlawed organization, conspiring to topple the government and establish Caliphate in Pakistan.
FGCM have sentenced five years Rigorous imprisonment (RI) to Brigadier Ali Khan, Major Sohail Akbar has been handed down 3 years RI while Major Jawad Baseer sentenced to 2 years RI, whereas Major Iftikhar and Major Inayat Aziz have been awarded 1 year 6 months RI each.
The convicts have the right to appeal against the conviction before the Army court of appeals under Pakistan Army Act.
