The Political Administration of Kurram Agency has completed construction of two flood protection spurs for the communities of Banichot, Ghat Durrani, Warokai Durrani in the Durrani area and Qamar Kali, Dagaree Kali and Haji Nawab Kali in the Kuchi area of Lower Kurram Agency, which will protect the communities’ agricultural lands from future flooding.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Information FATA on Monday, the Political Administration of Lower Kurram has constructed two flood protection spurs measuring 121 meters long.
The spurs will benefit some 1,400 individuals and protect about 1,000 acres of agricultural land of these villages. The flood protection spurs will also protect public and private infrastructure from floods. The political authorities prioritized the scheme and completed construction of the spurs in a short period of time.
The press release added that the local community took active part in the construction, which resulted in timely and quality completion of the project. In addition, local labour was also hired from the community to ensure a sense of ownership among the people.
According to statement the government is focusing to address the basic needs of the remote and under developed areas with an aim to improve the standard of life and ensure access to basic services for the masses of these areas. (SANA)
