ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday said the Constitution has placed a bar on the re-employment of retired judges, adding that they acknowledged reasonable reward packages in the form of commutation and pensionary benefits and didn’t need to aspire for re-employment.
The chief justice was addressing the opening ceremony of the new Judicial Year 2011-12 held here in the Supreme Court building. He said Article 207 of the Constitution instructs that a retired judge of the superior courts shall not hold any office of profit in the service of Pakistan until two years after his retirement.
