Jaundice or Yarqan is a disease which causes our skin and the white of the eye to become yellow in colour. It is caused by the increased level of bilirubin in our blood cells.
Jaundice is caused when the process of excretion of bilirubin is not working properly. Bilirubin is produced during release of hemoglobin and is processed by liver and stored in ball gladder from where it is excreted from body.
[junkie-alert style=”green”] Malaria, cancer, hepatitis and many other diseases may affect the excretion process of biliurbin causing Jaundice, which means that Jaundice itself is not a disease rather it is a symptom of undergoing disease. [/junkie-alert]
The treatment for Jaundice is in reality the treatment which caused Jaundice. If it’s because of malaria then malaria will be treated, if its hepatitis then hepatitis should be treated. If the patient is severe he should be hospitalized otherwise proper care and medication at home is sufficient.
