Capture Mobility has designed an innovative hybrid renewable energy product for harvesting both solar and wind energy from roads. The company has designed windmills that are integrated with solar panels to generate green energy. Placing these wind mills on the side of the motorways enables energy generation 24/7 by the air movement of the passing by traffic as well as the integrated solar panels that add extra energy to the system during day time. The panels are designed in such a way that they help to rotate it rather than causing any hindrance.
The cost of a single unit is USD 100 which can produce up to 100-120 Watts 24/7 making it 80% more efficient than the existing technologies and products at the same cost. The revenue model of this business is multifold – first from the sales of the electricity generated to the government, second by selling the units to the other renewable energy companies, governments, and individual customers and third by placing advertisement on the wind mills.
The company has raised USD 60,000 in investments and is in talks with FFC and Punjab Energy Department (AEDB) for a joint venture on the Motorway. Furthermore, they also have an endorsement from the UK Trade & Investment Office to implement the project in UK. The total length of metaled road ways in Pakistan is approximately 188,000 kms, which includes 7,112 kms of National highways and the Motorway connecting Lahore with Islamabad – a massive opportunity to grow this business.
