Lahore: The Federal Minister of Railways, Khawaja Saad Rafique, expressed his resolve in turning Pakistan railways into a profitable sector of the economy. In an interview, he stated that all possible steps were being taken for the safety of the passengers, which have already been put into actions. He said that the import of engines from China was imperative and that their own factories were also functioning with full momentum.
The Railway Minister further stated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had given him these responsibilities recognizing his potentials. He further claimed that all the processes were going on smoothly in a transparent manner with no signs of mega corruption.
Khawaja Saad Rafique stated that he had returned to railways after burning all the boats and up till now, he was satisfied by the results. The officers and the staff of railways, according to him, were willing o work and had already initiated the process. He further added that Insha’Allah these efforts will soon eliminate the debts of railways and profits will be generated soon.
The recent horrible incidents occurring on the railway tracks were saddening, stated Saad Rafique and that all efforts were being made to ensure safety for the passengers travelling by trains. He also informed that new engines are being purchased through transparent transactions with China and further steps are also being taken for the freight operations that will further increase the revenues for the Pakistan Railways.
