London: Dr. Mike Martin’s latest book, “An Intimate War: An Oral History” is making the reason of embarrassment for the British Ministry of Defence and British military. British authorities are trying to keep secret the Explosive Revelations of the book, as they are trying hard to stop the book from printing.
According to the reports, Dr. Mike Martin is one of the few British soldiers who is mastered in Pashto, in the Afghan war, he spent his time in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. His controversial book is about the province, “An Intimate War” tells the story of the last thirty-four years of conflict in Helmand Province. In the West, this period is often defined through different lenses, the Soviet intervention, the civil war, the Taliban, and the post-2001 nation-building era.
The book proves how outsiders have most often misunderstood the ongoing struggle in Helmand and how, in doing so, they have impaired the conflict, continued it and made it more violent. Mike Martin’s oral history of Helmand highlights the absolute imperative of understanding the highly local, personal, and non-ideological nature of internal conflict in much of the ‘third’ world.
He also criticized the Army for being completely unaware of the historical animosity felt by the local population towards their former colonial masters. The book is scheduled for launch in London on Wednesday. Because of this book, where the British Army has been forced to resign, there are also some British generals who praised him. A British general said “I wish I read this book before”.
