Beyond the Heights is a Pakistani documentary film depicting the epic journey of a brother and sister who travel from a small village in Hunza to the peak of the world that is Mount Everest.. The movie is based upon the true events of the journey made by Samina Baig who became the first Pakistani woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Samina Baig and her brother Mirza Ali live in the small remote village of Shimshal in the Hunza Valley. But even though they come from a small place their ambitions are huge and they decide to undertake the journey which is the dream of every mountaineer, to reach the highest point on Earth.
The two siblings decided to undertake the expedition to portray and promote gender equality and the empowerment of women. Samina Baig is a testament to the power of women by becoming the only Pakistani woman to climb Mount Everest and doing so at the age of only 22 years. The two siblings have previously made two similar documentaries to promote mountaineering, youth outdoor education and empowerment of women.
Beyond the Heights is their biggest project yet. It is directed by Jawad Sharif, written and produced by Mirza Ali.It is a highly anticipated film and is set to release soon in Pakistan.
