Bata is a family owned private footwear company which has presence in 70 countries with 5200 retail stores, making it one of the biggest footwear company of the world but do you know the owner of the brand was only a cobbler?
Tomas Bata was born in a family of cobblers, they were in this profession from eight generations but Tomas changed the dynamics of their existing work. He along with help & funds from his siblings established T & A Bata Shoe Company.
In 1904 it introduced mass production machines and become the first European company which modernized its way of production hence giving it an edge over other companies.
After his death in a plane crash his half brother Antonin took over the company but had to flee after Nazi occupation of Switzerland. Tomas Son Thomas established Bata in Canada and other parts of the world and was successful in rebuilding the brand. It was his success that made BATA the largest show manufacturer of the world which sells over 300 million pairs of shoe and has 80,000 employees.
