Balochistan is Pakistan worst province in terms of education. In terms of percentage Balochistan has the highest percentage of children who have never been to school.
In Balochistan 66% of children do not attend school, this is even higher than the war torn Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). Of these students more that 3/4th have never been to school.
The ratio increases with the increased level of education, which means that even those who are going school will not be able to continue it to secondary level.
There are many reasons behind such poor statistics which were highlighted in the report by Alif Ailaan. One of the major reasons was poverty. Many families are unable to support the children in education, rather the children become labor at an early age to support the family.
Another reason was that families are not willing to send female girls to schools, which means lesser students in school. School being too far is also a major barrier in Balochistan.
