ISLAMABAD: The protesters belonging to Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf occupied Pakistan Television today but they had to leave the building of PTV after Pakistan Army reached on the site. The protesters welcomed Army and stepped back voluntarily, saying that their purpose was not to occupy PTV but they wanted to have their protest recorded.
According to sources, the workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf today barged in PTV and afterwards, the transmission of Pakistan Television was stopped. The protesters from both the parties broke the key or central doors of PTV building and entered forcibly. The protesters firstly occupied the transmission room and stopped the transmission of PTV.
According to sources, the protesters armed with rods smashed in the offices of PTV. Afterwards, Pakistan Army and Rangers reached on the site to push the protesters back and leave the building but the protesters welcomed Army and Rangers enthusiastically, paved them to enter the building and emptied the building voluntarily. The soldiers from Pakistan Army have got the control of PTV.
The protesters from Awami Tehreek have said that we are emptying PTV voluntarily on the arrival of Army because we respect Pakistan Army. They said that PTV was airing campaign against Awami Tehreek and we wanted to get our protest recorded.
On the other hand, an army troop led by Major Sarfaraz, when entered to the building of PTV, the protesters welcomed them enthusiastically and the army troop also replied positively to the protesters. At this moment, Major Sarfaraz said that if the protesters really respected Pakistan Army, they should empty the building voluntarily.
