The Army has joined operation in the area of Rajanpur against “Chotoo Gang”. The name of this Operation is “Anti-criminal Zarb-i-Aahan”. According to police official the launching of a military operation against the hardened criminals of Rajanpur’s Rojhan tehsil is after the federal interior ministry approval.
Army battalion from Okara and two platoons of the Special Services Group (SSG) had been called in to launch a large-scale operation along with an independent commando regiment/corps of the army. A strike force with paratroops from Rangers will also take part in the operation.
The battle started when criminals handed four body of policeman to the authority with threat of killing other 24 hostage policeman.

24 policemen, including SSG commandos of Elite Police, had been taken hostage by the gangsters. The criminals also handed four injured policeman to the representatives
Punjab police spokesperson Nabila Ghazanfar said that police had achieved a major success by killing seven notorious members of the gang during fresh clashes. She claimed that Ali Gul Bazgir, the ringleader of the Chotoo gang, Faqir Mohammad and Majeed Bakhrani are included in the killed members of Chotoo gang in the previous battle.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in a meeting, expressed sorrow on the loss of lives of policemen and admonished the officials of the force for not providing backup support to the law-enforcers fighting on the front line.
