Punjab Government established Punjab Bait ul Maal Council to support the poor and needy people of the province. If you are a domicile holder and citizen of Punjab you can apply for assistance & funds from Bait ul Maal.
The concept of Bait ul Maal is based on the caliphate of Umar (ra) who established the central treasury to distribute the funds between the people of Islamic Caliphate.
How To Apply?
The criteria of determining whether your request of assistance is acceptable or not depends on the District committees of Bait ul Maal which evaluates the condition of the applicant. In all categories preference is given to orphan and widow.
Currently financial help is provided in these five categories:
- Financial Assistance:
Funds up to Rs. 10,000/individual is given to needy people who are living under poverty line, it is to help those who are homeless or are facing certain urgent financial problems.
- Marriage Grant:
Marriage grant is given to help people during wedding of their daughters, the maximum amount given to any family is Rs. 35,000. People can also seek help after the marriage, but not after 90 days of nikah ceremony.
- Medical Treatment:
Patients who are unable to bare expenses of their treatment can also get funds from Bait ul Maal for their medical treatment. The funds are given to the government or NGO hospital where the patient is being treated and not in cash. Maximum assistance provided is Rs. 50,000.
- Education Stipend:
Education is the basic right of everyone and Bait ul Maal ensures that even the poor or needy gets the chance of completing their education. To help such students they provide monthly stipend between Rs. 400 – Rs. 3,000 based on the institute and level of education.
- Assistance For NGOs:
NGOs can get funds up to Rs. 50,000 if they fulfill the following criteria:
-Registered with Social Welfare Department
-Project which the NGO is carrying is required in the area
-NGO is working on non-commercial basis
