New York: Apple Inc clinched a convincing lawful victory against Samsung on Friday as a US jury, hearing Samsung-Apple infringement case, awarded $1.049 Billion in damages to US Company finding Samsung, a Korean Company, infringed on Design And Software patents of Apple.
The decision was taken as a nine member US jury recovered the Korean company had copied critical features of the hugely popular iPhone and iPad and awarded the US company $1.05 billion in compensation.
The verdict that came after less than three days of jury deliberations could lead to an absolute ban on sales of key Samsung products to set Apple’s dominance of the exploding mobile computing market. It will also threaten Google whose Android software powers the Samsung products.
However, Samsung has sought to take the decision to higher courts to overturn the verdict.
