Karachi: Pakistan’s leading vocational training institute, AMANTECH, launched a brand new trade geared towards the textile industry and for female participants. TheStitching Machinist course, in conjunction with USAID and Yunus Textile Mills (YTM), is AmanTech’s first demand driven course for female as well as male participants andwill cater to the rising demand of the textile industry.
Mr. Mohammad Ali Tabba, CEO, Yunus Textiles Mills, endorsed AMANTECH’s initiativeand said: “Yunus Textile Mills’ collaboration with AMANTECH and USAID for the Stitching Machinist Course is a huge step towards enhancing the lives of the underserved youth of this country. Home Textiles is amongst Pakistan’s most successful businesses, and developing specialized trades to satisfy the human capital need in this industry is essential to creating employment opportunitiesfor the underserved and further enhancing the capacity of this industry. The ribbon cutting today symbolizes YTM’s proactive step towards developing its own labor requirements as well as creating a more employable Pakistan.”

Guestsat the event were given a tour of the stitching facility. This new trade highlights a shift towards AMANTECH’s demand-driven industry-based technical trainings.Key benefits offered by the Stitching Machinist course include 100% job placement guaranteedbyYunus Textiles, the market leader in Home Textiles. The 3 month course will have 400 graduates per annum. AMANTECH has opened doors to women technical training programs by enrolling 100% women in its first quarter.
The launch event also included speeches by students from the first batch.Amna, a student said: “What was once my hobby has now becomemy career – I only studied till 8th grade and thus to have the opportunity to work in such a large organization was a dream come true for me. I am being provided a generous stipend which has enabled me to work away from home and also acquire a technical skill while helping me provide for my family.”
