LAHORE: Lahore High Court has imposed ban on publication of Altaf Hussain’s images and his speeches in the country. A three member full bench of Lahore High Court comprising Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu and Justice Irum Sajjad Gul heard the petitions concerning the allegations that the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Altaf Hussain spread anarchy through his speeches.
The petitions against Altaf Hussain were filed by Advocate Abdullah Malik, Advocate Aftab, Advocate Maqsood and others in which they made a stance that MQM chief in his speeches made inflammatory statements against Pakistan Army and state institutions. The petitioners prayed that a case of treason be filed against Altaf Hussain under article 6 of the constitution of Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that in accordance with article5 of the constitution, it is the basic duty of every citizen to be faithful and it is obligatory for every citizen to obey the constitution and the law whether he is in the country or outside the country. If someone violates article 5, treason case can be filed against him under article 6.
