Woroud Sawalha from Palestine will be cometing in Athelctics is one of the most talked women athlete on social networking websites. The 20-year-old Woroud Sawalha knows that she won’t win a medal at the London Olympics and she isn’t likely to get beyond the first round of the 800 meters.
Woroud Sawalha is recognized by black headscarf, long-sleeved top and long trousers. Sawalha has competed in the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics in Istanbul, Turkey. Sawalha is praised by majority of people in Muslim countries.
For the first time in Olympics two women athlete Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shaherkani and Sarah Attar from Saudi Arabia is also taking part. Both the Saudi women will be obeying the dress code of Islamic law. Wojdan Ali Seraj Abdulrahim Shaherkani, who will be competing in the +78kg judo category on 3rd August will be wearing Hijab which International Judo Federation (IJF) president Marius Vizer has opposed and said Shaherkani would have to fight without a Hijab to comply with “the principle and spirit of judo”.
Talk are underway between Saudi Arabian National Olympic Committee, International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the IJF to try to resolve the issue.
