New Delhi: The convicted man Ajmal Kasab who is said to be involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case has plead mercy fromthe Indian President and his mercy petition has been sent to the President’s office, India news media reported Tuesday. The advancement was made after the Supreme Court rejected an appeal by Kasab, last month.
Kasab was the only man caught alive during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008. He made an appeal from the SC to convert the death penalty to life imprisonment but it was rejected by the Apex Court who confirmed the death sentence, observing that the primary offence that Kasab was charged with was waging war against India and “We are left with no option, but to uphold the sentence.”
Meanwhile, a Mumbai police constable Shaikh Anwar Shaik Amir, 44, has asked the Maharashtra Home Minister R.R.Patil his permission to hang Ajmal Kasab to death for his cowardly act of 26/11.
