
According to the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), the government has begun the outsourcing process for the country’s airports but not the privatization process, ARY News reported on Wednesday.
The media stories suggesting the privatization of the airports, according to the PCAA spokesperson, are untrue. To make traveling easier for citizens, the government sought to improve country’s airports to meet international standards.
In addition, it stated that delivering the finest services travellers at airports was the goal of outsourcing airports. According to the PCAA, the outsourcing procedure would be built around competitive auctions.
The aviation authority made it clear that other countries are not being receiving control of the airports. It further stated that the outsourcing procedure would adhere to all relevant rules and regulations.
The federal government has drafted the outsourcing plan for the airports in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, it was revealed earlier.
According to reports, the Civil Aviation Authority completed the framework at the prime minister’s request. According to additional sources, “a tender for outsourcing of the airports will be issued in international journals.”
Sources claim that the government has chosen to outsource the airports in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
According to sources “the administration has intended to prioritize friendly countries for the outsourcing of airports.” According to sources, “the enterprises from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, China, and Turkey would be invited on advantageous terms.”
According to sources citing the Planning Division, outsourcing airports will bring in between $250 million and $300 million for each year.
According to sources, the government will hire a contractor to manage airports for 25 years. Airport terminal services, parking, airport storage, cargo processing, and cleaning will all be outsourced under the terms of the arrangement, according to sources.
Airport security and air traffic control will continue to be a part of civil aviation. CAA receives Rs.30 billion annually from the three largest airports in the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the go-ahead in December to start the outsourcing process for three significant airports through a public-private partnership.
The prime minister gave the go-ahead for all related departments to act quickly during the outsourcing process. He added that this procedure should be transparent.
Airport outsourcing will assist improve facilities for international travellers as well as bring in money for the government.
