Abid Boxer: Pakistani Police Officer Turned Cold Blooded Murderer

Punjab Police OfficerAbid Hussain Qureshi, more commonly known as Abid Boxer was a police officer in Punjab Police who turned into a cold blooded murderer.

He fled Pakistan in 2008 but is now back claiming that he was falsely accused in cases on the orders of Shahbaz Sharif. He claims that Shahbaz Sharif during his provincial governments killed many innocent citizens in fake encounters.

Who is Abid Boxer?

Abid joined the Punjab Police through sports quota in 1988 as a sub-inspector and was soon promoted as an inspector. He was a professional boxer before joining the police force and that’s why he was called Abid Boxer.

Soon he became known for deadly police encounters, but it is alleged that close ties with Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif saved him from any prosecution. Now he claims that the fake encounters, killings and land grabbing were done by other police officers on the orders of Shahbaz Sharif.

In 2008 the fake encounters, land grabbing and other crimes of Abid Boxer came into media highlight after wife of a retired army brigadier Naseem Ashraf lodged a case against him.

Brig Naseem Ashraf Case:

Retired Brig Naseem Ashraf from Qila Gujjar Sing was an owner of a cinema which Abid Boxer wanted to grab. His wife lodged a case against Abid Boxer accusing him of the murder to occupy the cinema, later she died under mysterious circumstances.

The murder of Naseem Ashraf and his wife were linked with Abid Boxer, it is alleged that to escape prosecution in courts he escaped Pakistan.

 Abid Boxer Defends Himself:

In a video message he explained how fake cases were filed against him, why he fled the country and how his uncle was tortured to death in police custody. He also said that in few days he will reveal the killings of model town Lahore, land grabbing and fake encounters with proof.

According to media report Abid Boxer was arrested from UAE after a red warrant was issued against him and he was extradited to Pakistan with the help of Interpol.

His was granted bail by session courts Lahore in all cases that were filed against him in Lahore including murder and land grabbing.
