Everyone knows that lentils (daal) are good for health because of the fiber, copper, phosphorus and folate they contain but new research reveal that it can also reduce the risk of cancer.
According to National Health Service (UK) lentils are very helpful in reducing the chances of bowel cancer. The research was published in a renowned journal ‘Nutrition & Cancer’.
The team which carried out the research was from Loma Linda University, California but there were some limitations of the research, the most important was that it was based on a small sample.
The people involved were from a religious group which avoided alcohol and smoking making them more healthy. The number of participants were 2,818 which are asked about their diet in two phases, once in 1976 and then in 2002.
Whether the study was perfect or not all doctors believe that a healthy life style will reduce the risk of diseases.
