Minister for Labour, Transport and Information Syed Nasir Hussain Shah on Tuesday inaugrated the ceremony at the shrine of famous saint Abdullah Shah Ghazi but Sindh government failed to announced any public holiday for schools & government employees.
The urs of Abdullah Shah Ghazi is observed for three days from Zilhaj 20 to 22 according to Islamic calendar while as per Gregorian calendar the Urs is being observed from 12-14 September.
MQM Pakistan also demanded the provincial government to announce public holiday but till now no statement was issued. On the other hand Karachi Metropolitan Corporation announced that their & their subordinate offices will remain closed on Thursday, the last day of Urs.
It is also hoped that the Sindh government may also announce holiday on the last day of Urs as it had in the past few years. Traditionally government practice was to announce holiday on the start of the Urs.
Each year thousands visit the tomb of Abdullah Shah Ghazi, who came from Madina and settled in Sindh to preach Islam.
